Now Jamie could see himself heading down the same dangerous path that ended the life of one of his friends and sent several others to prison.
Jamie needed to separate himself from his peers, get clean, deal with his legal problems, and start fresh. YMCA House gave him a place to live, some much needed support, and information on other YMCA programs that could help Jamie redirect his life.
A fully assisted membership at Metro Central YMCA got him started working out, regaining his health, and feeling better about himself. In the next few months, Jamie used both the YMCA Substance Abuse Program and YMCA Employment Services to get clean and improve his employment skills.
When he got an interview and didn’t have any appropriate clothes, the YMCA helped Jamie purchase a shirt and tie and he quickly landed a part-time job. Now Jamie spends his time looking for full-time work and connecting with a new group of friends at the Metro Central YMCA.
