About Our Staff

YMCA Camp Pine Crest At YMCA Camp Pine Crest Outdoor Centre, we believe that the most important part is our participants. We provide all of our participants with the support, attention, and care they need throughout their stay with us.

  • CPR and Standard First Aid qualifications
  • National Lifesaving Society qualifications
  • A minimum of one week of dedicated training plus ongoing training and coaching throughout the season. Training sessions include bullying, diversity, policies and procedures, ages and stages, program instruction, outtrip leadership just to name a few
  • Dynamic individuals with experience working with children.
  • Most of our staff have gone even further with there qualifications and many have qualifications like; ORCA Tripping & Whitewater Levels, CUI Level 2 (Climbing and Ropes Course), Wilderness First Responder and other qualifications that are related to our setting.
  • A full time Camp Manager, a full time Outdoor Centre Director, a seasonal Head of Facilities and a seasonal Head of Food Services.
  • Approximately 20 program staff that include YMCA staff and other professionals, recent graduates, and trained university, college, and high school students.
  • The programs are also supported by a full time Assistant Camp Director and a full time Director of Alumni and Volunteer Development.

Senior Leadership Team

  YMCA Camp Pine Crest - Andrea Balmer

Andrea Balmer returns for her second year as Camp Manager. Andrea has worked at various camps across Ontario in almost every camp role. She holds a degree in Recreation and Leisure studies and has been a senior camp Manager in the areas of residential, day camp and outdoor education for the last eight years. You will often see her jumping in to play with cabin groups with her dog Otis close behind!

  YMCA Camp Pine Crest - Coel Balmer

Coel Balmer returns to Pine Crest as our full time Outdoor Centre Director. Coel works with over 1800 participants each year that visit our site in spring and fall. Much like Andrea, Coel has held almost every job at camp and will be a great asset to our team. Coel will often be seen in the summer teaching campers the beautiful art of solo canoeing!

  YMCA Camp Pine Crest - Anne Coleman

Anne Coleman returns for her second year as Assistant Camp Director. Anne helps us support families year-round as a direct line to camp. Anne has an extensive background in residential camping from YMCA Camp Kitchikewana. In the summer months, Anne will be on site directing overall programs as well as providing customer service leadership. Don’t miss a performance by Anne at campfire as she blows us away with her guitar and singing!

  YMCA Camp Pine Crest - Casey Crerar

Casey Crerar has joined our full time team this year as Director of Alumni and Volunteer Development. An alumni herself, Casey is working hard to grow our alumni database, works with our volunteer committees to organize annual events, fundraise for our Send a Kid to Camp fund, move us forward with our Master Plan developments and act as a steward for those interested in being involved in camp happenings. Casey is often on site with visiting Alumni to share all the exciting things taking place each day!
