At YMCA Camp Pine Crest, we believe that the most important part of camping is the campers. That’s why we make sure to provide all our campers with the support, attention, and care they need throughout their stay with us. To ensure our campers stay safe and have fun, we hire experienced and caring counsellors who possess:

• CPR and Standard First Aid qualifications
• National Lifesaving Society qualifications
• A minimum of one week of dedicated training plus ongoing training and coaching throughout the summer. Training sessions include bullying, diversity, policies and procedures, ages and stages, program instruction, outtrip leadership just to name a few
• Dynamic individuals with experience working with children

With one of the best counsellor to camper ratios in Ontario, YMCA Camp Pine Crest has a solid staff team made up of:

• A full time Camp Manager, a full time Assistant Camp Director, a seasonal Assistant Camp Director, a full time Outdoor Centre Director, a full time Director or Alumni and Volunteer Development and a seasonal Head of Facilities
• Approximately 100 summer camp staff that include YMCA staff and other professionals, recent graduates and trained university, college, and high school students
• Over 50 volunteers each summer for our camp operation and an active group of over 100 volunteers that help us open and close the site each year
• 20 staff members for our outdoor education centre

Senior Leadership Team

	Andrea Balmer has returned as Camp Pine Crest Director for her fourth summer. Andrea has worked at various camps across Ontario in roles from camp counsellor, canoe tripper to program staff and senior staff. She holds a degree in Recreation and Leisure studies and has been a senior camp manager in the areas of residential, day camp, and outdoor education for the last ten years. Andrea is a Board Member of the Ontario Recreation Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) and enjoys paddling, running and hanging out with her daughter Sloane, and the Balmer zoo (LeRoy, Norman and Ari).
	Coel Balmer returns to Pine Crest as our full time Site Facility Manager. Coel will ensure that Pine Crest is taken care of for years to come! Much like Andrea, Coel has held almost every position and brings with him experience from many different camps. Coel will often be seen in the summer teaching campers the beautiful art of canoe restoration.a
	Alexander McIntosh has joined our full-time team this year as Summer Camp Assistant Director.  Alex brings a wealth of knowledge to the team in the areas of facility management, day camps and outdoor education. During the summer months Alex can often be found dressed up in clothes from the prop room and running around camp!
	Anne Coleman has been the Assistant Director for the last three years at Pine Crest and has recently decided to take a break from camping for a bit. She will be missed by all and we wish her all the best in her new endeavours! This year we will be hiring additional full-time staff to make up our wonderful team of Pine Cresters to get ready for the 100th anniversary and Capital Campaign 2010. Stay tuned!
