Answers To Your Questions About Child Care

1. What time can I drop my child off at a YMCA Child Care Centre?
Most of our Child Care Centres open between 6:45 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and close between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. To be sure, check the hours of the Child Care Centre closest to you.
2. Do you provide meals?
YMCA Child Care Centres offer hot lunches prepared by either cooks or caterers. To ensure your child receives a well-balanced meal, our menus follow Canada's Food Guide.
3. Do you give the children a nap time?
To make sure your children have the energy they need to learn and grow, we provide infants, toddlers, and preschool age children with a daytime rest period.
4. How will my child be learning?
Your child will be playing to learn. At the YMCA, we have known for a very long time that child's play provides the foundation for all learning. To help your children build on this foundation, we provide them with play opportunities designed to help them learn language, literacy, mathematics, science, technology, and art.

5. What is the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum?
YMCA Playing to Learn is based on the belief that play provides the foundation for learning to read and write, and for learning mathematics, science, and technology. This approach, in turn, gives our teachers the ability to create an environment that encourages learning and gives your children the chance to develop skills and self-esteem.
6. What activities will my child be doing?
Your child will have the chance to explore a wide range of activities, including story time, time to play with blocks, opportunities to count and compare, and chances to make pictures and to sing. Your child will explore and investigate, take time to make-believe, and experience the wonders of the world.
7. Should I keep my child home if he/she is sick?
If your child develops an infection or illness at home, you are responsible for keeping him/her at home. If your child gets sick during a YMCA program, we will contact you to make arrangements to have your child picked up. Children should only return to the Child Care Centre after they have been well (without fever) for 24 hours.
8. What are your Child Care fees?
Our Child Care fees vary depending on the age of your child and the program you select. Get more information about our fees and financial assistance now.

9. Do you offer subsidies if I cannot afford the full fee?
As a charity that serves all segments of our community, the YMCA of Greater Toronto provides financial assistance for all of our programs and services. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, members, community partners, corporate partners, volunteers, and staff, no one is denied access to a YMCA program simply because they cannot pay the full fee. Get more information about our fees and financial assistance now.
10. Do I get a refund if my child is absent due to illness or away on vacation?
At the YMCA, we base our costs on the number of children enrolled in our programs. As such, we cannot offer refunds if your child misses days due to an illness, vacation, or other absence.
11. Do you issue tax receipts?
Yes. We will provide you with an official Child Care Income Tax receipt on or before February 28 of each year.
