Beyond Basics: All ready know the basics?  Ready to give your resume that personal touch by adding bullets, borders, lines and text boxes? See you at Beyond Basics!

Computer Basics: Learn the essentials of Microsoft Word that you’ll need for your resume, including changing fonts, saving and retrieving files and more!

Internet Job Search:  Learn the basics of navigating the Internet and how to use popular online job banks to search for job leads

Email Basics: Learn the basics of email, including composing new messages and sending

Ins and Outs of Career Change: Find out the necessary steps to make a successful career change.

Job Expectations: This workshop will give you the necessary life skills to make the right employment decision and remain employed!

Passport to Workplace Safety: Protect yourself on the job by learning about your health and safety rights and responsibilities and the responsibilities of your employer.  You will also participate in an online safety test and receive a safety certificate.

Career Testing - Caps, Copes and Cops: This workshop is designed to assist those who may be questioning what career path to follow. Participants will be assessed through various tests during the first day of this 2 day workshop. The 2nd day of this workshop will be spent analyzing the results of the test and spent looking at the different options for each participant.

Resume Clinic: Learn the do’s and don’ts of resume writing and bring your own resume for feedback.

Smart Serve: Get your license to legally serve alcohol in Ontario. The workshop takes you step by step through the legal obligations and responsibilities of those who serve alcohol. You will then be given an open book exam, which will be sent to Smart Serve Ontario to be marked.

Talking Trades: Find out all about the Construction and Motive Power Trades, and gain apprenticeship information.

Mock Interviews: Experience the interview process and get feedback on the areas for improvement.

Job Search for Newcomers: This is a general information session for Newcomers to Canada to provide information about initial steps to your job search and to provide you with information on resources available to you in Durham Region.

Job Search & Interview: In this workshop, learn all the essential skills you need to conduct an effective job search and interview.

Job Search Jump Start: This workshop will give you the necessary life skills to make the right employment decision, remain employed while gaining a valuable safety certificate.

Fall Protection - The Construction Association of Ontario Fall Protection Training is highly recognized by employers and will get you a head of the pack. You will gain basic knowledge and understanding of how to work    safely in areas exposed to fall hazards, as required by the construction regulation.

Resumes and Email - Learn how to send attachments, create a scanner friendly resume and insert your document in a message box, as required for various employment Web sites. Participants must have an active hotmail or yahoo account prior to taking this workshop.

Cover Letter Essentials - Grab a hiring manager’s attention with a winning covering letter! Learn the proper format for the letter, how to incorporate your skills and experience and how to match your qualifications to an employers needs.
