Want to Learn English?

The YMCA Language Assessment and Referral Centre is a centralized screening, assessment and referral centre for eligible adult newcomers 18 years of age or older who want to study English in Toronto.  We have been funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) since 1992 and have completed over 230,000 assessments.

Our certified assessors administer standardized assessment tools that are based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks. After completing the language assessment, you will be referred to the most appropriate language program in Toronto.

We are currently assessing for 2 CIC funded language programs:  Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and Enhanced Language Training (ELT).

Classes are free. Beginner to Advanced levels offered.  You may study in a full time, part time or distance learning program.

Some language schools do provide on site child minding for children up to the age of 5 years.
