Getting Started: How to Become a Volunteer
YMCA VolunteersBecoming a YMCA volunteer is a fun and rewarding experience. Get started today by following these five easy steps:
  1. Discover how you want to help
Find the opportunity that’s right for you by looking through our Volunteer Opportunities.
  2. Complete the application form
Download the Volunteer Application  and drop it off in person at your choice of YMCA location.
  3. Come in for an interview
Once your information is received by the centre and a suitable opportunity becomes available, a volunteer coordinator will contact you to set up an interview. At the interview you will learn more about the volunteer position and how you can help the YMCA.
  4. Submit a current Police Records Check
Most volunteers will be required to submit a current Police Records Check (current within 6 months) before they begin their volunteer service. Contact your local police station for more information.
  5. Start making a difference!
Once you have successfully completed the first four steps, you will be scheduled to start volunteering. An orientation to your role and a staff member will be assigned to answer your questions.
Please email volunteering@ymcagta.org if you have any questions about volunteering with the YMCA.
