As a newcomer, Thin Win found it intimidating and confusing to navigate Canadian society and all the services available to her. She visited the North York Newcomer Information Centre and was glad for the opportunity to volunteer so she could overcome those barriers.

Through volunteering, Thin became familiar with how things work in Canada and also had the chance to use her knowledge and previous experience to help others. She was always eager to learn from staff, and Thin’s positive attitude towards learning and volunteering made her a big help to everyone at the centre.
