YMCA Newcomer Centres offer a complete array of programs and services for newcomers to Canada. Volunteers serve an integral part in helping newcomers become acquainted with their new home, developing social networks and gaining new skills which allows them to settle into a new life in Canada.

Whether it is helping a young person find employment, get off the streets, settling into safe housing, learning harm reduction strategies or building confidence, volunteers gain valuable skills and connect with their community in meaningful ways. Volunteers establish mature, supportive relationships with youth and become key players in helping young people discover their gifts and develop leadership skills.

Help a student grow in an interactive, experience-based learning environment. Volunteers assist classroom teachers with the delivery of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum during the school year and building supportive relationships with students along the way at the YMCA Academy.
