In 1869 Toronto City Council came up with the idea for a summer "day of recreation." In 1875, it was settled: the first Monday in August would be the official Civic Holiday.
This first Monday of August is your Civic Holiday, the 2006 "day of recreation". Enjoy it!
Our holiday hours of operation for Monday, August 7th are:
| Brampton YMCA | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Durham YMCA | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Markham YMCA | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Metro Central YMCA | 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Mississauga YMCA | 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| North York YMCA | 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Scarborough YMCA | 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. |
| West End YMCA | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. |

You should also know...
All of our childcare and summer day camp locations will be closed on this holiday with the exception of our residential camps: Pinecrest and Cedar Glen Overnight Camps (Fly & Nighthawks)
Also, all of our employment centres and community program locations will be closed with two exceptions: YMCA House & Peel Youth Village.
