Brian Tracy recently received a certificate to honor his 57 year contribution as a YMCA volunteer. The certificate was presented to Brian at his 75th birthday celebration at Metro Central YMCA in the company of his friends and family.
His connection with the YMCA began 57 years ago when he joined the Central YMCA on College Street. At 18, the YMCA played a positive role in Brian's life and when he was in a position to help others, he naturally turned to our YMCA.
Brian’s love of basketball and children seemed to be a natural fit for coaching the basketball programs. He was one of the original youth basketball volunteers with Leith Drury when the new Metro Central YMCA opened on Grosvenor Street in 1984.
One afternoon, years ago, Brian met Carole, another YMCA volunteer, while she was teaching a running class and he was teaching basketball at our YMCA. When they ran into each other at a marathon the rest became history.
Every summer for the past 8 years, Brian and Carole host a YMCA member/volunteers triathlon pool party at their home. Brian and Carole run, bike and swim with over 20 YMCA friends and their families.
Brian's continued involvement in the YMCA is greatly appreciated by staff, fellow volunteers and of course his community.
