The YMCA of Greater Toronto had a visible presence at Toronto Pride this year with a booth at the Pride Community Fair on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday June 24th.The YMCA joined with more than 150 other organizations and charities to celebrate Pride and connect with communities.
Enthusiastic volunteers staffed the “YMCA Celebrates Pride” booth, handing out free giveaways such as YMCA bubbles and “Get Your Move On” tattoos to Pride revellers.
The YMCA’s participation in Toronto Pride is part of the Diversity & Social Inclusion Strategy whereby the Association will express and celebrate its commitment to focus on nine dimensions of diversity. One of those dimensions is sexual orientation; the others are gender, age, class, image, religion, race and ethnicity, physical and mental ability, and opinion. The Diversity and Social Inclusion task force is committed to increasing our presence in a wide variety of communities. Plans are underway for the YMCA of Greater Toronto to participate in Caribana later this summer.
The YMCA looks forward to many more Pride celebrations, as the Association strives to connect with the diverse and thriving communities that make the GTA so strong.
