The YMCA of Greater Toronto is proud to introduce YMCA Sprott House, a new affordable and supported housing program for young adults aged 16 to 24.

By opening YMCA Sprott House, the YMCA has delivered on its commitment to create a comprehensive Youth Foyer Program. While YMCA Sprott House provides affordable and supported housing to all eligible young people, YMCA House provides emergency shelter to young men in immediate housing crisis and Peel Youth Village provides transitional housing for individuals between the ages of 16 and 35 in Peel Region.

YMCA Sprott House residents will have their own private, fully furnished unit with a bathroom and share kitchen facilities, laundry and common areas in the lovingly maintained historical house. Residents will pay rent geared to their income and are required to be employed, actively seeking employment or in an education or training program. If he or she is eligible, the resident’s rent will be subsidized for up to two years.

YMCA Sprott House can welcome 23 residents at a time, but already the new residence is fulfilling its promise. Since mid-December, when it opened for internal YMCA referrals only, 3 of 11 residents of YMCA Sprott House have moved on to independent living.
