2008 Peace Medallion Awards Presentations

Peace Week

While the power of peace lies within all of us, it takes a certain kind of person to lead a community toward peace.  The YMCA of Greater Toronto recognized 15 outstanding leaders with Peace Medallions as part of YMCA World Peace Week (November 15-22).

This year marks the 21st anniversary of recognizing community peace builders in Canada by awarding them the YMCA Peace Medallion. Since 1987, some 900 individuals and groups have received this award during YMCA World Peace Week. 

The winners received their Peace Medallions at the 2008 YMCA Peace Medallion Awards Presentations (PDF 26KB) across the Greater Toronto Area.  This year’s Peace Medallion recipients are exceptional examples of ordinary people who have done extraordinary work in their communities.  The recipients are:
