Liberia
By mobilizing youth as active agents for affecting changes in the social and sexual behaviour of youth and young adults across Liberia, the Institutional Building and Youth Empowerment Program of the YMCA of Liberia seeks to reduce and prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS and violence in the general population.

Young women are trained as peer sexual health educators through workshops on HIV/AIDS, sexual health, gender issues, interpersonal communication and leadership skills.   They are empowered to make healthy choices and inform other youth on issues related to STDs and reproductive health, with demonstrated improvement in risk factors such as age at first sexual encounter, number of sexual partners and condom use.

Ghana
