The YMCA of Greater Toronto partnered with the The National Council of YMCAs of Myanmar in 1991.
Educational Programs: Appropriate technology training courses (solar power, water purification); management training for local YMCAs; computer, secretarial and basic accounting courses for youth and women.
Vocational Training: Training in food preparation and preservation, building trades, handicrafts and tailoring.
Leadership Training: Training programs and forums for youth and women.

1999: A volunteer, program staff and Vice President from YMCA Charles St. Employment Services were hosted by the YMCAs of Myanmar. They visited five communities and a variety of vocational training programs.
1998: Financial support designated for food preparation, appliance repair and leadership training programs, which provide youth and women with marketable skills.
1996: The National Council of YMCAs of Myanmar (and the YMCAs of Yangon, Bago and Mandalay) hosted a partnership visit from a volunteer with the International Advisory Committee.
International Programs are supported by the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
