The YMCA of Greater Toronto partnered with the YMCA of Senegal in 2002.
The Youth Empowerment Program seeks to reduce the negative impact of HIV/AIDS on the general population in Senegal. The program includes:
The Adolescent Reproductive Health Program: This program aims to improve reproductive health knowledge and practices of youth (10-19) through grassroots education and access to contraceptives. The program provides HIV/AIDS and sexual health information and prevention programming for youth and young adults in four regions.
The Youth-Rural Development Project: This project seeks to increase the participation of youth in rural community development using participatory planning and development approaches.
The Prisoners Program: This program helps women prisoners in the promotion of handicrafts to help them re-integrate into the economic system.The Entrepreneurship Program: This program aims to encourage young people to be involved in small scale businesses, improving the capacity of youth through practical instruction of skills needed to start one’s own business. It also seeks to improve the financial status of youth through the development of micro-lending program to help young people to start their own businesses.

2005: The YMCA of Greater Toronto hosted a delegate from the YMCA of Senegal prior to the YMCA International Conference held in Montreal
2004: The YMCA of Senegal hosted a partnership visit by three staff from the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
