The YMCA has been providing leadership training for youth for over a century. In 2008, the YMCA established the Newcomer Youth Leadership Development (NYLD) program in order to meet the needs of newcomer youth and their families.
The NYLD program includes:
1) The Newcomer Youth Leader Corps (Newcomer YLC)
2) A Parent Workshop Series
Our YMCA Newcomer Youth Leadership Development is an important step forward in service to youth in our community.
The program will assist its members in their settlement process and help them become active and engaged as new Canadians. Once a week the group meets with an advisor and a youth volunteer.
The YMCA can provide a much needed source of support as youth adjust to a new language, new school system, and new culture.
The program, like all YMCA Youth Leader Corps, will provide opportunities for volunteerism and leadership. Please contact the following YMCA locations for more information:
